Who are retreats for? What is a retreat?
A retreat is exactly what it sounds like — the chance to be away from your ordinary life and situation. It is a special time to give yourself some peace and calm. You might be stepping away from a hectic lifestyle full of being too busy. You may be taking a break away from the responsibilities of children or caring for someone. You may be escaping from a bad emotional situation. You may just want time and space to consider where you are in life.
Why do I need to take a ‘chunk’ of time out?
Taking time out has, in fact, always been a vital part of improving the quality of life, refreshing our understanding of events and re-charging the spirit. It does not matter how many spirituality books you have read or how many self-development courses you have attended or what spiritual techniques you have practised for deepening your inner awareness. Unless you stop and let go of your ordinary concerns, the soul can not speak to you.
One Day Retreats at Inner Space - Manchester
It is comforting to know that there are places set up especially for the refreshment of the spirit and ‘Inner Space’ is one of those places. The calm environment helps relax the body and creates a conducive atmosphere for individual reflection and personal development.
At Inner Space, Manchester - the One Day Retreats are carefully designed to help you reflect on and explore the important factors governing your everyday experience. These include self identity (the basis of real inner power) and the art of creating and maintaining harmony in our relationships.
In two sessions, an experienced facilitator will offer insights into the practice of Raja Yoga meditation and look at the practical application of spirituality in daily life. The day will also include a period of ‘quiet time’ – which you can either spend indoors or outdoors as St John's Gardens – a charming little park is just adjacent to Inner Space.
At Inner Space we value a healthy, safe, clean environment. As such smoking, drinking alcohol and consumption of non-prescription drugs are not permitted in the centre.
At Inner Space we believe that the food we eat absorbs the mood with which it has been prepared. This is why the freshly made vegetarian meal that is offered to you as part of the One Day Retreat will have been made by a team who have been especially trained to cook with a calm and loving mind.
We are generally not able to cater for special dietary requirements. However if for medical reasons you have essential dietary needs, please indicate your requests at the time of booking.
As an educational global network of organisations, the Brahma Kumaris share their knowledge worldwide free of charge in the spirit of making it available to everyone.
While facilitators and other helpers offer their services in a voluntary capacity, financial contributions by program participants assist with future programme running costs.
